Training Systems Australia recently partnered with Federation Training to install the new VirtualPaint training system at their Yallourn Campus.
VirtualPaint is an award-winning and highly adaptable virtual reality training simulator that reflects a fully customised painting and coating production environment.
Painting and Decorating teacher at Federation Training, Davin Nicholas, is a strong advocate of the equipment and says that in his first 6 months of working with the system, he has it fully integrated into his teaching practices.
"The VirtualPaint system is a great piece of technology and has been well received. Students are excited to learn with it and we have noticed clear improvement in the rate of skill and technique development."
"It complements our existing training practices. Students can practice on the system as many times as they like, gaining confidence in their skills, and this is then carried through when they go out in the workshop to carry out their spray painting tasks."
Developed by the painting trainers at the University of Iowa in the US, the innovative equipment provides a simulated work environment allowing trainees of all levels to learn, develop and improve their techniques, all within a safe environment. The system allows users to view and interact with real spray application equipment while simulating the actual application onto a variety of virtual surfaces – saving exposure to fumes and unnecessary additional paint costs. An ideal resource for Automotive Paint & Panel and Painting & Decorating departments to engage and benefit their students.
Earlier this month, Pascal Mater and Ben Dziekan from Training Systems Australia caught up with the Victorian TAFE Teachers Network at Yallourn. All in attendance had the opportunity to get hands-on and try the training system for themselves and learn more about its capabilities and how it can be easily implemented to complement existing teaching methodologies.
It was a great day and a big thanks goes to Davin and Federation Training.
